The workshop was given by Prof. Ruwei Liu of Shandong University. Prof. Liu is also the Chief Editor of MFN CHINA and has extensive experience in the process. The event attracted over 35 participants coming from different industries such as aviation, automotive, construction and the shipyard industry.

The courses were divided into three education levels with a total of 19 topics. The complete training had been accepted by the FAA. Furthermore, MFN is also a Partner in Education in Nadcap.

The primary level one (L1) shot peening course included topics such as intensity, Almen saturation curve, peening time, documentation, shape classification and media preparation.

The intermediate level two (L2) course addressed specifications and standards, peening equipment, spare parts, application examples, choice of nozzles and theory of how to optimise the shot peening process.

For the final advanced level three (L3) session, which is in particular recommended for auditors, trainers & specifying engineers, a greater breadth and depth of knowledge was provided to enhance competence gained from the previous levels. Residual stresses & their measurement, fatigue stress corrosion and photo optical particle analysis were some of the topics explained in this class.
