MFN Successfully Entered The Chinese And Japanese Market For Shot Peening Training
For companies from the Western hemisphere, certain countries are more difficult to approach than others. Especially with China and Japan the entrance threshold for Western companies is set very high. The different cultures and languages and the fact that local support must be available are one of many issues which needs to be addressed. Therefore MFN is very pleased to have organized 2 successful workshops in China and Japan. Both events were held in the local language.
In 2007 MFN will have organized a total of 16 shot peening workshops in 11 countries (Canada, China, England, France, Germany, Holland, Italy, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore and the U.S.A.) and will have carried out over 40 on-site training courses all over the world. The MFN training is available in Chinese, English, French, German, Italian and Japanese while other languages are presently in preparation. Approximately 750 people have enrolled in MFN training in 2007. There is probably no other organization in the world which teaches so many people in the field of shot peening. This is certainly a respectable number and is only possible with the support of MFN's motivated team which consists of 35 members from as many as 14 countries (see www.mfn.li/contact).
However, for MFN it was a milestone achievement to be able to emerge into the Chinese and Japanese market. Compared to other markets it is just so much more difficult. Not just is the translation of the training material into non Arabic character languages a huge effort, but more important, to establish a reliable local support and to build the infrastructure to successfully promote such an event, took literally years of preparation.
Shot Peening Workshop in Chengdu
The local workshop on "Fundamental Knowledge On Shot Peening" was held from the 20th-21st of September 2007 in Chengdu and attracted a total of 43 participants. For a local MFN event this has been the highest number of attendees ever and documents the great need for qualified shot peening training in China. A number of different topics were discussed such as peening intensity, effect of peening, coverage, exposure time, masking solution, peening media, specification & documentation for peening and much more. The course is approved by the FAA (Reg. No #AGL/606/0005/8) and by passing an optional test, a certificate was issued accordingly. With the help of our two Chinese speaking MFN trainers Nai Puay Guan from Singapore and Roger Fang from Taiwan, there were no communication difficulties. The team was enforced by MFN trainer Juha Siiriainen from Finland who explained the X-ray measurement technology. All the logistical and organizational aspects of the workshop were the responsibility of John Zhang Yunxiao, who is MFN's local workshop coordinator in China.
Shot Peening Workshop in Nagoya
From the 20th-21st of August 2007, the same course as in China was given in Nagoya, Japan. With the great help of Mr. Ryuichi Koyama of T&F Management, who was in charge of the Japanese translation and the organization of the class room facility and the support of the two MFN trainers Nai Puay Guan and Juha Siiriainen, the event was a full success. A total of 13 participants joined this workshop.
Because of the excellent feedback, MFN will hold workshops in China and Japan on a regular base and also offer on-site training in this region. For more information contact us at info@mfn.li or visit www.mfn.li/workshops.
