Emirates Steel, the largest integrated steel producer in the UAE and a subsidiary of General Holding Corporation (Senaat), has officially announced that it will be the Platinum sponsor of the 4th edition of the International Exhibition for Steel and Metallurgy in the Middle East and North Africa (Metal & Steel Middle East 2013) which will be held during February 21 - 23, 2013 in Cairo – Egypt over 15.000 sqm.

Strategically located in the Industrial City of Abu Dhabi (ICAD), just 35 kilometers away from the heart of the city, Emirates Steel utilizes the latest steel manufacturing and rolling technology to produce reinforcing bar, wire rod and heavy sections.

Established in 1998, Emirates Steel is currently implementing a comprehensive business development plan. Once complete, the Company will be one of the largest and most competitive steel producers in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. The Company is evolving from its roots of being a simple and relatively low value-added processor of steel into a sophisticated, highly productive manufacturing business with a high added-value business model.

"We are excited about supporting Metal & Steel Middle East 2013 and to participate as a Platinum Sponsor as we consider it to be one of the main regional steel events for professionals and specialists within the MENA region's steel industry. We intend to take advantage of this opportunity to highlight our new expansions, products, and identify future prospects for growth and development," said Engineer Saeed G Al Romaithi, Chief Executive Officer of Emirates Steel.

Al Romaithi "this exhibition would bring major players in the steel and metal sector together to avail of international and regional growth opportunities that the exhibition will highlight to help them support their business development objectives over the coming years."

Recently, Emirates Steel inaugurated the completion of its AED 7 billion (US$ 1.9 billion) Phase 2 expansion program. Phase 2 increased Emirates Steel’s total production capacity to 3.5 million metric tons per annum (MTPA) and made the Company the sole producer of jumbo and heavy sections in the MENA region.

Currently, the Company has the capacity to produce a wide range of structural sections from approximately 200 to 1,000 millimeters in depth, including jumbo sections. In fact, its Heavy Section Mill now produces parallel-flange beams, columns and bearing piles with up to 1,016 millimeter web depth and 419 flange width, up to 430 millimeter parallel flange channels, 250 millimeter angles, 750 millimeter U-sheet piles and 630 millimeter Z-sheet piles using 350 x 220 millimeter blooms and up to 1050 x 460 x 120 millimeter beam blanks as starting material.

Furthermore, Emirates Steel has been awarded a Quality System Certificate (QSC) as a Material Organization (MO) from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for the manufacture of concrete reinforcing bar (rebar). The company is the fourth rebar manufacturer worldwide to be awarded this certificate and the first in the GCC.
