Market Focused ~ Solution Driven

Imagine a company that encourages innovation and creativity ~ and turns it into new technologies and market leadership. Where teams take sparks of creativity and breathe life into them.  That’s Intertape Polymer Group (IPG).

IPG is a leading manufacturer of a comprehensive range of tape and film based products designed for industrial applications found in a broad range of market segments. One of the many ways in which IPG differentiates itself is by providing an integrated, product realization approach to its diversified customer base.

Recent product advancements within IPG’s surface preparation tapes serve as examples of the market focused solutions born from the collaborative efforts between manufacturing customer and supplier.

IPG offers a number of tapes to be used in the media blasting or shot peening process, but the clear standout is the Intertape™ BT100 series. Intertape™ BT100 is a 43 mil thick durable rubber based product coated with advanced water based acrylic pressure-sensitive adhesive. The high-tack qualities of the adhesive bonds quickly to clean surfaces to produce a seal that prevents media / peening intrusion. BT100 can easily be removed in one piece without the use of solvents or manual “picking” required to remove the product or adhesive residue left behind. BT100 eliminates the process of masking off multiple layers, therefore reducing masking labor requirements by as much as 70%. As a result, IPG customers can produce finished products of superior quality with higher productivity and increased profitability than alternative masking products or methods.

IPG embraces a strategy of working in cooperation with co-manufacturer partners or other manufactures whose products typically perform in conjunction with pressure sensitive tapes. An example of an IPG co-manufacturer partner is the Sherwin-Williams Aerospace Coatings business unit. The Sherwin-Williams Company is one of the world’s leading companies in the manufacture, distribution and sale of coatings and related products to professional, industrial, commercial and retail customers. They have a long history of utilizing new coating technologies to provide better products for their customers. In recent years, Sherwin-Williams and IPG have worked together to develop innovative solutions for customers using a dry stripping process for the removal of coatings and corrosion in surface preparation processes. As a result of this collaboration, customers have significantly reduced the amount of time required to perform surface preparation.

Budnick Converting is one of the most diverse adhesive tape converters in the industry and another example of an IPG co-manufacturing partnership.  Budnick’s application engineers utilize their vast experience and over 50 converting machines to create “user-friendly” die-cut parts from IPG’s jumbo rolls. The use of the die-cuts creates a more seamless and profitable process for customers that would otherwise have to manually cut the tape to fit a specific application.  Budnick works closely with IPG to provide BT100 and other shot peen masking products in custom sized rolls or die-cuts. When custom converted, these proven products provide better protection, increase productivity and significantly reduce metal fabricators’ overall costs.

The customer is the clear winner when market leaders work in unison to evaluate a process from start to finish and find ways to reduce labor and product cost and increase output.  IPG has found the perfect balance between revolutionary and evolutionary initiatives by aligning themselves with other market leaders seeking product solutions built on sound judgment, experience and a little intuition. IPG is committed to product quality and the continued development of surface preparation products, setting the standard for the entire industry.
