MFN Refurbishes and Enlarges its Training Centre in Altena, Germany

The training and educational program becomes increasingly important for MFN. What started with one workshop once a year has now its own department with over 35 trainers from 20 countries, teaching to more than 1000 people per year. It maintains training facilities in Germany, Holland and Brazil and has courses in 8 languages.

The training centre in Germany has a very good occupancy rate. On the one hand it offers FAA-accepted shot peening training for 3 different achievement levels. On the other hand it has integrated new courses. In the 4th quarter of 2010, MFN, in cooperation with JOT, also successfully started to introduce courses on "Industrial Painting". Furthermore classes on "International Business" have been added, where International Sales Development and Cross-Cultural Management are lectured. To cope with this additional demand, it was decided to completely refurbish the training centre and to add an additional room. So besides the class room that can accommodate up to 30 people, a break room where lunches and refreshments are served, there is a smaller facility in which all the different test devices are on display or stored. MFN has access to a photo optical particle size analyzer, size analysis with sieve shakers, digital Almen gauges, flap peening kits, Almen curve program, Almen strips and holders and much more. Some of the practical training cannot be done in these rooms. In this case there is an individual test laboratory available in which the heavier equipment such as the wheel peening machine and the durability tester are placed. While there is standard training available, MFN is also able, depending on the number of participants, to offer customized lessons. Any education program is just as good as the people teaching the courses. MFN successfully recruited trainers from different fields. Some of them lecture at universities, have extensive hands-on experience or others have management positions in the industry. In most cases the training is given by a number of teachers to ensure a good mixture of different backgrounds. During those workshops, participants from various companies come together, so the event serves as an ideal platform to enhance networking among the industries. Over the years, hundreds of people have been trained in Altena.
