China Surface Engineering Summit 2012

Chinese government officials, association heads, and business leaders all gathered together in the business capital of the world for the China Surface Engineering Summit 2012.

Shanghai, China – December 3-4, 2012 – Surface engineering is a booming industry forecast to reach $107 billion in value by 2017, with about 15% of that coming from vehicles. China is the world’s biggest surface engineering player, and it faces a host of new regulations and innovations for this impressive market. This summit will serve to provide a breeding ground for the dissemination of new information and new ideas.

High-ranking government organization and association participation will be very strong, with speakers invited from the Ministry of Environmental Protection, the China Surface Engineering Association, the International Surface Coatings Association of China, and the China Coating Industry Association. Corporate speakers will be out in force, with speakers invited from PPG, Akzo Nobel, General Motors, BMW, Volkswagen, Caterpillar, Cummins, Faurecia, Samsung Heavy Industries, and more.

The agenda has been specifically designed for the Chinese surface engineering industry, and will feature the above keynote speakers and interactive platforms that will allow all participants to gain valuable insights into the surface engineering, especially the coating industry and all that comes with it. Participants will, of course, have ample opportunity to raise any concerns regarding the Chinese surface engineering industry, and will be provided ample time for networking.

In focus: surface engineering is a huge market in China, especially as it concerns the metal finishing in the automotive industry. Notwithstanding this fact, profit margins are declining due to rising raw material prices. Additionally, there are rules and regulations trending towards a low VOC, low odors, and environmental protection. In this uncertain, yet propitious environment, businesses and associations alike must familiarize themselves with current policies on and standards for Chinese surface engineering regulations and much more.
