Aldrich Chua To Be New MFN Trainer in Singapore
Aldrich Chua

Aldrich Chua

The Education Division of MFN is always looking for talented people to teach the various processes. MFN is very glad that Aldrich Chua accepted our offer to become an MFN trainer for shot peening. Chua will support the team to teach practical shot peening training. He will also be part of the MFN Shot Peening Workshop in Singapore, that takes place from May 14-15, 2019 at ARTC in Singapore.

Aldrich is from Singapore and has graduated with a diploma in digital and precision engineering, specialised in CNC and CAD / CAM technology from Nanyang Polytechnic, Singapore. Whilst studying, he interned in Makino Japan where he built experience in G code programming and operation of EDM and CNC machines.
After graduation, Aldrich started work at Nanyang Polytechnic in 2013 as a Development Technologist, where he was exposed to the additive manufacturing process using polymer. During that time, he was in charge of operating multiple machines to deliver parts for in-house and industrial projects, as well as conduct trainings to educate staff and students on the concept of additive manufacturing.
In September 2014, Aldrich joined the Surface Enhancement (SE) team in Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC) as an assistant development engineer. That was also when he started pursuing his part time Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering, and will be graduating in July 2019. During his first few months in ARTC, he worked on several surface modification processes including Abrasive Flow Machine (AFM) and Deep Cold Rolling (DCR).  Subsequently, Aldrich was introduced to shot peening after attending all three levels of the MFN Shot Peening Training. Over the years, he continues to apply the knowledge that he picked up during the training through delivery of experimental work from research and development projects with member companies, creation of inventory list and maintenance schedule for the shot peening machine in ARTC, as well as training new staff and interns to ensure they have strong fundamentals in shot peening. He has also been supporting the practical lessons for MFN Shot Peening Training in ARTC since 2016.
Shot peening projects that Aldrich has worked on includes the study of the use of different media types, effects of coverage as well as improvement of nozzles with the help of simulation. Currently, he is actively involved in projects focused on finding solutions to elevate the current shot peening process to meet the expectations of Industry 4.0.
