1st MFN Shot Peening & Flap Peening Workshop in Spain - in Cooperation with Bilbao's School of Engineering!

MFN is always seeking cooperations to maximise synergies. As far as training concerns, it certainly makes sense to work together with local Universities. MFN's training division is very glad to be linked with one of Spain's most recognised Universities, the Bilbao School of Engineering.

MFN Shot Peening Workshop

From the 18th to the 20th of October 2011, MFN will do its 1st Shot Peening Workshop in Spanish language at Bilbao's School of Engineering in Spain. Three different levels of shot peening know-how are taught. From basic knowledge about intensity, coverage, masking, media, etc. up to laser peening, cavitation peening, audits and residual stress measurement, there is hardly any topic connected to peening that is not discussed during this event. All courses are recognized by the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration). In order to receive a "Certificate of Achievement", an optional test has to be passed.

Completely revised Shot Peening Training

In a joint effort that took almost a year, exciting presentations were revised, new topics such as Photo Optical Particle Analysis, Cavitation Peening or alternatives such as Deep Rolling were added. In addition, one of the guide lines was to integrate a good mix of peening know-how from the aviation and the automotive industry. New videos were made and all presentations received an extensive visual "touch up". In this process dozens of graphs and illustrations had to be completely redrawn either by computer or sometimes even manually. The final result sets new standards in the field of shot peening training.

Flap Peening Workshop supported by 3M according to AMS 2590

In addition, on the 17th of October, there will be an independent Flap Peening Workshop. The training material has been completely redone this year in order to comply with the new Aerospace Material Specification AMS 2590 (Rotary Flap Peening of Metal Parts). Many companies in the aviation industry have to comply with this new specification. The flap peening workshop is sponsored and supported by 3M. Also this flap peening training comes with an individual FAA recognition number.

MFN Trainers & Training Coordinators

The event in Spain is supported by 3 MFN team members. The teaching will be done by Giovanni Gregorat, who is one of MFN's most experienced trainers, and Jesus Ruiz-Hervias, (Ph.D), who works as Associate Professor for the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). Ramon Estrade will be responsible for logistic and organisational matters.

Training has always been one of the key activities of MFN. The organization has education programs for Shot Peening, Flap Peening, Industrial Painting and Mass Finishing. Depending on the topic, the training is available in up to 9 languages.
With its team of over 35 trainers from 20 countries, it has built a unique platform to offer a truly international training logistic, which serves over 1000 people a year. It is supported by 16 offices worldwide and 3 training centres.
