Flap Peening
Flap peening uses bonded shot flaps on a rotary tool to apply a controlled peening treatment, especially where access, local repair or portability makes conventional equipment impractical.
Portable applications
The method is used for localized treatment when the workpiece cannot readily be placed in a conventional peening machine.
Operator-controlled variables
Tool speed, contact angle, traverse pattern, flap condition and exposure time must be defined and verified for repeatable work.
Training
Hands-on instruction helps operators connect technique with intensity verification and documented process requirements.
