Singapore once again hosted the MFN Shot Peening and Flap Peening Training Program from 5 to 7 May at the Advanced Remanufacturing and Technology Centre (ARTC). This year’s program received an encouraging response, with a total of 48 participants attending the training, reflecting the growing interest in practical surface enhancement technologies across the region.
The three-day program covered a wide range of topics spanning basic, intermediate, and advanced levels of shot peening and flap peening processes. Participants were introduced to process fundamentals, intensity and coverage control, media selection, equipment systems, fatigue enhancement mechanisms, process verification, and advanced application techniques used across the aerospace, automotive, energy, and precision engineering industries.
A major highlight of the training was the practical demonstration and hands-on exposure to robotic equipment at ARTC. The interactive format encouraged active participation, technical discussions, and experience sharing among attendees from diverse industrial backgrounds.
Despite the increasing availability of AI-driven tools and digital learning platforms, the strong response to the Singapore training once again demonstrated the continued value of practical, experience-based learning. Participants particularly appreciated the real-world case studies, troubleshooting discussions, and application-oriented approach presented during the sessions.
The program was sponsored by Abrasive Engineering Pte Ltd, whose continued support has contributed significantly to the promotion of practical shot peening knowledge and training in the region.
The successful completion of the seminar further reinforced the importance of combining theoretical understanding with hands-on industrial training for the advancement of surface enhancement technologies.
